Orage is performed by the pianist David Herman on the 11th of june 2009, in the Haitinkzaal of the Conservatory of Amsterdam. More information on David Herman is to be found on www.david-herman.com

The work ‘Orage’ is from the Années de pèlerinage, first book (Switzerland) by Franz Liszt. It is based on Byron’s Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage (Canto 3 LXVIII – CV): «But where of ye, O tempests! is the goal? / Are ye like those within the human breast? / Or do ye find, at length, like eagles, some high nest?».

Also one could see the piece as a thunderstorm which passes trough the Swiss Alps.
