Love this performance. The playing is very sensitive and this early piano is delightful. Another major factor for me is hearing this piece at flat pitch to 440. I am guessing this a half step flat at about 415 hz. Makes such a difference to hear music performed at the pitch for which was written, or at least a close proximity. As A440 hz is a 20th century standard most classical music we listen to is being performed at a higher pitch than it was written for. This often makes the music sound too bright and less warm overall. Thanks for this enlightening recording.
Thanks so much for confirming the pitch at A 415 hz. Joanna Leach has I think left us an important document in her recordings giving us a window into more authentic performances than we usually hear on modern instruments.
