Audra Nagby, brilliant lyric coloratura soprano, and Robert Wetzel, reproducing the sounds of a lute on his classical guitar, perform Henry Purcell’s great song, «Sweeter than roses», live in concert on Sunday afternoon, September 15, 2013 and presented at All Saints Episcopal Church in San Diego, CA, as part of a chamber music recital series directed by Dr. Randall Tweed that is sponsored and presented by the Grossmont College Music Department. This concert also featured Alyze Dreiling on violin and viola who performed beautifully works that were composed or arranged for violin and guitar by Paganini, Cerruti, Gluck, Porro and Coste.
Composers presented at this concert were Paganini, Dowland, Pilkington, Porro, Sor, Coste, Gluck, Villa-Lobos, and Cerruti.
The guitar used here was constructed in 1999 for Robert Wetzel by the now famous Australian luthier, Simon Marty, who lives his life, and creates great classical guitars in Sydney.
